Palm Beach is surrounded by water on three sides. Salt spray is inescapable. All outdoor equipment must have maximum corrosion protection. The ocean side along Ocean Road takes surf spray, the Pittwater side along Iluka Road and Barrenjoey Road sits in salty estuary air, and the ridge homes on Florida Road get both, so there is no sheltered address in the suburb.

Many Palm Beach properties are multi-million dollar waterfront homes requiring sophisticated multi-zone ducted or VRV/VRF systems. Glass walls facing Pittwater or the ocean over two or three levels make the heat load unusually high, and a quote for one of these houses should come with a room-by-room calculation and a plan showing every outdoor unit.

At the very tip of the Northern Beaches peninsula, Palm Beach has the highest travel costs for tradespeople. Plan for premium call-out fees. A firm that already services Avalon and Whale Beach will price the travel more gently than one driving up from Brookvale, and the travel component should appear as its own line on the quote.

Narrow streets, steep driveways, and waterfront locations can make equipment delivery extremely difficult. Crane hire is common. The homes stacked up the Pacific Road ridge often have their living level well below the street, and a condenser for a lower terrace goes down by crane or winch, which is priced labour rather than a surprise.

The flat sandspit around Governor Phillip Park and the golf course sits barely above sea level and floods in a big east coast low or a king tide with a storm surge. Ground-level condensers there should be lifted on a bracket or plinth with the isolator above the likely water line, which the quote should show.
