A living room on the western fall of the ridge near Willandra Road can run several degrees hotter than the same room in Dee Why below, and a quote that copies the coastal rule of thumb will leave it under-cooled.

Properties bordering reserve land may fall within bushfire-prone zones, affecting outdoor unit placement and materials. The reserve wraps around the top of the hill, so a good number of homes have a bush boundary, and the installer should ask about the BAL rating before choosing the wall for the condenser.

Far enough from the coast that standard (non-marine) condenser coils are adequate for most installations. Beacon Hill's height does expose it to the nor'easter that comes over Dee Why, so homes on the eastern brow with an ocean view get a little more salt than the western streets, but a coated coil there is a preference rather than a requirement.

The ridge is one of the windiest residential spots on the peninsula, with westerlies in winter and gusty southerlies in summer. Wall-mounted condensers on the exposed elevations need rated brackets bolted into structure, and a quote for a bracket install should state the fixing method rather than assuming plugs in brick will do.
